“Do I Have to Post Video Content to be Recognised on Social Media?”
There’s no doubt that video content is absolutely dominating online right now. I mean, it's everywhere. 🤷♀️ Whether it be on Reels, TikTok, Facebook or YouTube - you simply can’t escape it. People love video content because it combines movement, sounds and text. Video can also be helpful to teach consumers about a service or product. But do you need to post video to be recognised online? Let’s get into it.
The short answer is no.
Despite what everybody says, we don’t believe that every business needs video to be recognised online. Take us as a prime example. We don’t use video for our digital marketing here at Daily Digital, simply because we don’t feel the need to. We have an active website. We educate with blogs, utilise ads, and are active across socials with carousels and informative posts. This works for us, although we’d never say no to video, it just hasn’t been a need for us yet.
Why some companies need video
Don’t get us wrong, there definitely are a lot of companies that benefit from adding video to their content schedule. Some things simply can’t be explained with a static post. Ultimately, businesses need to be where their audiences are, so if that’s on TikTok, then yes video content should be a part of your social media strategy. If it’s not? Then don’t worry! There are a handful of other content marketing strategies that you can use.

There are alternatives to shooting video content
Business owners often avoid video content like the plague, simply because they don’t want to feature in the video content. The great news is there are so many effective ways to create video content and you don’t have to be in it. It’s a win-win! What’s best is you don’t even have to film the video yourself. You can create a Reel in Canva using one of their templates with a moving background. Or you can create an animation using a stock video. Or reach out to an influencer to shoot the video content for you. The opportunities are endless.
Carousels will be your BFF
If you’re a service provider, you should definitely consider using carousel posts for your social media. Why? Because carousels are an interactive form of content that users enjoy looking at. In fact, data shows that users spend more time looking at carousel posts than at traditional Instagram feed posts. Carousel posts have the highest average engagement rate of all feed post types. Meaning that they perform even better than single-post videos. Carousels allow you to share up to 10 photos, or videos in one post. You can use these carousels across ads on Instagram and Facebook to generate more views and engagement.
